Summary
After a decade of research, Wischmann presents a double biography of Culbertson (1809-79) and his Blood (Kainah) Indian wife Natawista (1825-93). They were major figures in the upper Missouri fur trade and exerted great influence not only in their own area, but also in the country of the Northern Blackfoot, Blood, and Piegan and into the northern plains and Rocky Mountains.
